As Peter Griffin from the Family Guy said “you know what really grinds my gear” the law inequality that exists today between “celebrities” and normal everyday people.
As everyone knows due to the enormous attention it has captivated by all different media sources and the infamous historical event that will forever be remembered as one of the most tragic moments of our history; Dr. Murray is to appear in court to face charges for the death of the king of pop Michael Jackson.
There is an ongoing dispute by the LAPD and the DA’s office about how Dr. Murray is to be brought in to face the charges that has not even been properly filed against him yet. The dispute consists of whether he is arrested and brought in handcuffs or if he is to be left alone to appear in court on his own accord to face the charges that will be file against him sometime in the future. According to the news, Dr. Murray is to face involuntary manslaughter which involves a penalty of up to 4 years in prison.
I am not suggesting that Dr. Murray is a criminal nor is guilty of anything until it is proven beyond reasonable doubt by a jury. The point I am trying to make here is that if an everyday person was to face charges of involuntary manslaughter which is a felony, he/she will not have the choice of showing up to court when they see fit. One smart move by Dr. Murray and his legal team of advisors is that they have collectively decided that he will show up in court today by 1:30 PM to face a judge although as I mentioned no charges have been filed therefore, he is not being accused of anything yet.
The law is there to be implemented without any concern of status, religion or race. The law is there to protect and to serve everyone residing in the United States of America equally. It grinds my gear when celebrities get special treatment just because of who they are. It seems as if there is subcategory of the law that is used in special occasions for those with power and status. This is not the first time I hear about law enforcement giving special treatment to individuals like Dr. Murray.
This world belongs to the rich and powerful and to those with a famous face. Everyone else below that are just temporarily living in it.

Celebrities do get away with things “average” people wouldn’t! I’m not talking about petty shoplifting types of crimes. The media loves to chastise those types of newsworthy tidbits. I’m referring to more serious crimes such as intent to kill and premeditated murder. I don’t need to mention specific names; that information can be googled. Repeat celebrity offenders have been made an example of in the past but it takes their repeated infringements to get the attention of the judicial system. Imagine if they weren’t repeat offenders though – they could live life having gotten away with it just for the reason of their fame!
